But why is he viewed as one of the best recruiters in the game, and what can the Wolverines expect to see from him during his time in Ann Arbor? "Ace recruiter," "one of the best in the business" and "elite on the recruiting trail" are a few of the phrases that have been linked to his name since Harbaugh hired him. The Dallas native has heavy ties to the state of Texas, having been born and raised there before spending his collegiate days at Baylor and then making coaching stops at Texas A&M (2018-19) and the Dallas Cowboys (2020). Linguist has quickly built up a reputation as an elite recruiter in his young career (he's only 36 years old), with U-M already seeing the fruits of his labor pay off on the 2022 recruiting trail. Michigan Wolverines football head coach Jim Harbaugh made an outstanding hire this offseason when he brought in Maurice "Mo" Linguist to serve as his new co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Jean-Mary is another guy with strong ties to Texas and Florida in terms of recruiting. Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider ($) reported that Harbaugh has decided to keep Brian Jean-Mary on staff after Christian Robinson decided to stay at Florida. On a final note, it appears that the tinkering with the defensive staff is now complete. On the field, these moves should help but on the recruiting trail at least, it’s easy to see that Linguist is going to be a home-run hire. Macdonald wasted no time reaching out to elite 2022 corner Will Johnson and I’m sure it won’t be long before Linguist, who would also be his position coach, will be in contact. ![]() Not only does that help with recruiting, but these guys will have fresh ideas for this Michigan defense, which are desperately needed. I also like getting two coaches with ties to the NFL. We have no idea what kind of recruiter Macdonald will be, but the Wolverines needed to be better on the trail and with the addition of Linguist, they will be, certainly in the south. On top of being a dynamic recruiter, Linguist is also known as a very good coach and he’s someone that is being described as a future head coach and I love the pairing of him and Macdonald. Already had a source from down south reach out and tell me four-star Memphis DB Kody Jones is now interested in Michigan. ![]()
